Job summary

Caris Life Sciences is seeking a Histology Technologist I to support pathology operations including Immunohistochemistry (IHC), specimen processing, embedding, slide preparation, and microtomy. This role works under supervision following standard procedures to complete tasks in the laboratory.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ years in IHC/histology or related NAACLS-aligned training, a relevant degree, and a commitment to quality and accuracy in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in an IHC/histology laboratory or two years as a Histology Technician Trainee or one year as a Histology Technician Trainee plus completion of NAACLS accredited Histology program.
• Must meet high complexity requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
• At least 60 semester hours, with required chemistry/biology coursework or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Performs routine histology tasks; embedding, cutting, H&E staining and cover slipping.
• Performs high complexity testing, such as grossing, processing, IHC staining, QC of stained slides.
• Maintain diagnostic viability of specimens and ensure correct patient labeling.
• Document in LIS and laboratory logs as directed by SOPs.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and take action.
