Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Histology Technician to perform embedding, cutting, and staining on prepared slides in a fast-paced lab environment in Salem, OR. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and adherence to privacy regulations while handling biological and chemical hazards.

The candidate should have histology experience, HT/HTL or ASCP credentials preferred, and a track record in immunohistochemistry and special staining.

Qualifications

• 6 months histology laboratory experience, including embedding and cutting.
• HT/HTL certification or graduation from a school of Histotechnology may be accepted in lieu of experience
• ASCP HT/HTL certification and related credentials are preferred
• CAHEA/NAACLS-accredited school of Histotechnology preferred
• Documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience preferred
• Confidentiality of Protected Health Information and privacy standards must be followed

Responsibilities

• Perform embedding, cutting via microtome, and prepare slides.
• Perform routine H&E, immunohistochemical, and special staining procedures.
• Perform and document scheduled instrument maintenance.
• Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining.
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with privacy and security standards when accessing Protected Health Information
