Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Histology Technician to perform gynecological and non-gynecological cytology testing and histology processing using ThinPrep, SurePath, embedding, cutting and staining.

The role requires QC/QA responsibilities, maintenance of equipment, and timely reporting of results. Candidates should have a High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree is preferred and prior relevant experience is welcome. This is a full-time, on-site position in the Laboratory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in related science field preferred.
• Previous years of work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Picks up and processes all tissue specimen orders from various locations, troubleshoots and documents any orders that are incomplete or incorrect and completes QA reports if needed.
• Performs Frozen Sections and assists PAs with them, maintains TAT reports.
• Checks supplies and keeps tissue gross room stocked; ensures specimen requisitions are in order for processing.
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly QC on all equipment and reagents used in the department.
• Maintains wet tissue storage for up to four weeks, logs updates on the shared drive.
