Job summary

Labcorp in Torrance, CA is seeking a Histotechnologist II to join our team. The role involves processing tissue samples and preparing slides for microscopic examination, with a Tuesday-Saturday 2pm-10:30pm schedule.

You will perform immunohistochemical tests on FFPE tissue, section tissue with a microtome, and maintain instruments while following quality control procedures to deliver accurate results for patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science or related field meeting CLIA/State regulatory requirements.
• Two years of clinical histology laboratory testing experience.
• HTL or HT ASCP licensing.

Responsibilities

• Process tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic exam.
• Produce histopathology slides from surgical specimens.
• Section tissue with a microtome and mount sections on slides.
• Perform immunohistochemical tests on FFPE tissue sections.
• Run routine and special staining procedures.
• Record equipment maintenance and log data.
• Adhere to quality control policies and specimen handling procedures.
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions.

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist II to join our team Torrance, CA.

Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 2pm-10:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
• Two years of clinical histology laboratory testing experience
• HTL or HT ASCP licensing

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years Immunohistochemistry testing, sectioning, and embedding experience
