Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine in Roble, CA is seeking a histology technician to support tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and digital slide scanning on a second-shift schedule. You will work Sunday to Thursday 2 PM to 10:30 PM with weekend rotation as needed.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, handling specimens, assisting pathologists, and maintaining quality control. An Associate's degree in a lab science or equivalent experience is required, with LIS proficiency and basic math/reasoning

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or equivalent education.
• Alternatively, two years of clinical environment data handling/specimen processing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret scientific literature and regulatory documents.
• Experience with LIS and basic computer software used in a histology lab.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology to perform duties.
• Identify, prepare, and process tissue specimens per SOPs.
• Process tissues using processors, microtomy, stainers, and digital slide scanners.
• Cover specialty areas beyond processing, embedding, and microtomy as needed.
• Prioritize work to respond to workload and STAT requests.
• Troubleshoot instruments and perform routine maintenance per guidelines.
• Participate in quality control and service recovery programs.
• Provide orientation/training for new staff and students.
