Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Histology Professional to join our team at Ascension Providence in Waco, TX. The role involves processing tissue, producing histology slides, and performing immunohistochemical tests to support accurate patient diagnoses.

The position requires an Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science and at least 3 years of histotechnician experience with embedding and cutting. ASC P certifications are preferred; experience in a high-volume laboratory is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, CLIA standards may be met by non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits.
• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment.
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam.
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens.
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide.
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections.
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures.
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens.
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments.
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed.
• Record equipment log data accurately and timely.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Adhere to laboratory quality control policies.
