Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is seeking a Histology Technician - Per Diem to join our laboratory team in Mineola, NY. Under supervision, you will perform slide-based histological assays, prepare and process tissue specimens, and ensure quality and compliance with NYSDOH standards.

The role requires a HS diploma (or equivalent) with NY licensure or ASCP/CLT certification, solid communication, and accurate documentation. Per diem hours provide flexible scheduling in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with NY license (Histotechnician) or CLT/ASCP certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of histological techniques and basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs slide-based histological assays and procedures.
• Prepares grossing area and processes biopsy specimens.
• Embeds, cuts and stains tissue for histological examination.
• Ensures tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements.
• Maintains equipment and records in accordance with NYSDOH.
• Operates and maintains lab instruments.
• Enter demographics, work orders, accession data into systems.
