Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ASCP Histotechnician certification or NY license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Prepares grossing area and grosses biopsy specimens.
• Embeds, cuts and stains tissue for histological examination.
• Prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures; ensures tissue prep meets lab requirements.
• Prepares and performs routine staining techniques.
• Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
• Maintains records as required by NYSDOH regulation.
• Enters demographics, work orders, accession information into automated systems.
