Job summary

Care New England seeks a Medical Technician II (Histologic Technician) to perform routine and special tests according to written protocols to aid in diagnosing and treating patients.

The candidate must have a NAACLS approved histotechnology program and be eligible for ASCP BOC certification, or have prior histology experience before 2016. Position requires good dexterity and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED (grandfathered) or Associate degree with histology experience.
• NAACLS approved histotechnology program and ASCP Board of Certification eligibility or prior field work before 2016.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Collects, accepts and prepares specimens for analysis and storage.
• Performs all testing and related calculations with proper techniques.
• Evaluates and reports Quality Control results for routine and special stains.
• Follows established procedures for quality testing.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills.
