Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a Medical Technician II (Histologic Technician) to perform routine and special tests according to written protocols to assist in diagnosing and treating patients.

The role includes specimen collection, preparation, analysis, and reporting results with attention to quality control, safety, and clear communication within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or Associates degree with histology experience.
• NAACLS-approved Histotechnology program graduate and eligible for ASCP BOC, or prior field work before 2016.
• Prolonged standing; climbing or bending may be required.
• Proficiency in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
• Collects, accepts and prepares specimens for analysis and storage.
• Performs all testing and related calculations, demonstrating proper techniques.
• Evaluates and reports results of Quality Control for routine stains and special stains.
• Performs established procedures for quality testing.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills.
• Participates in additional activities that are necessary to satisfy departmental needs and requirements.
