Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Histology Technician to monitor the technical functions within histology, maintain quality of work, procedures, and expenses, and perform duties of a staff histotechnician.

This role ensures laboratory compliance with JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA, CAP, and MUHA/MUSC standards, with a focus on accuracy, collaboration with staff, and continuous workflow improvements in a busy lab.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree from an accredited college/university.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: HT(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) or equivalent preferred; if not certified, must have completed a NACCLS Accredited HT/HTL Program and be certification eligible. Certification must be achieved within 1 year of hire; until certification is achieved, salary will be 10% less.

The Histology Technician ensures laboratory compliance with standards set by JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA, and the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
