Job summary

Frontier Dermatology invites skilled and dedicated professionals to explore our openings at Salem Pathology Lab, where you will support our lab team with vital administrative work and exposure to specialized histology functions.

As a Histology Technician I, you will handle accessioning, prepare skin tissue specimens for microscopic examination, label samples accurately, and may cross-train in processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED, and 3 months related healthcare experience or trade school equivalent
• Preferred: Experience as a Histotech or HT (ASCP) eligible

Responsibilities

• Accession specimens for grossing
• Prepare skin tissue specimens for microscopic examination
• Accurately label tissue samples and slides
• Possible crossing training in processing and embedding paraffin-embedded samples
• Other duties as assigned, including routine maintenance and cleaning

Position Details:

• Job Title: Histology Technician I
• Location: Salem Pathology Lab
• Typical Schedule: Varied Mondays – Fridays, 8:00am – 5:00pm
• Position Status: Temporary 6-month role with potential for long-term employment based on business needs and evaluation

• Other duties as assigned, including performing routine maintenance and cleaning, filing slides and blocks
• Our lab must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment while adhering to OSHA/CLIA requirements
• Our histotechnicians/histotechnologists must have the ability to work efficiently with other team members to meet daily processing deadlines, be highly organized, and extremely detail oriented. See our mission below!
