Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Pathology Technician in the Histology/Gross Lab to assist technologists and pathologists. You will obtain biological samples for processing and help prepare tissue slides for examination under supervision.

Duties include accessioning Pap samples, staining, coverslipping, slide filing, monitoring codes and reports, and equipment upkeep. You may also assist in reference lab tasks, packaging, mailing, and training new staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field with 30 combined hours of biological science and chemistry.
• One year of laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage gynecologic Pap samples (accession, staining, coverslipping) and slide filing.
• Monitor billing codes and reports.
• Perform equipment maintenance and inventory management.
• Handle phone duties and assist in reference lab tasks as needed.
• Assist in training and onboarding new employees.
