You’ll work with tissue specimens, prepare slides for microscopic examination, operate cutting‑edge equipment, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure seamless workflow throughout the histology lab. This is a great role for those beginning their histology career or looking to build strong foundational experience.
Accession and receive tissue specimens.
Prepare and process specimens for microscopic examination.
Perform grossing and inking activities as allowed under CLIA requirements.
Prepare media, reagents, chemicals, and solutions.
Conduct tissue processing, embedding, microtomy/cutting, staining, cryostat use, and freezing.
Label and prepare high-quality slides for pathology review.
Examine slides microscopically to identify abnormalities, reporting deviations with oversight.
Identify and troubleshoot issues that may impact diagnostic accuracy.
Preserve, store, log, file, and track specimens and slides.
Maintain and clean instruments, equipment, and laboratory work areas.
Manage supply inventory to support continuous workflow.
Complete Agency-required QA/QC documentation accurately and on time.
Participate in compliance training and adhere to all regulatory standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum 60 semester hours including:
24 hours in medical lab technology OR
24 hours combined across chemistry, biology, and medical technology (with at least 6 hours each in chemistry and biology)
Plus 3 months documented lab training in high-complexity testing
Previous histology technician experience preferred
Strong knowledge of anatomy, tissue pathology, standard lab concepts, and procedures
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
High integrity and confidentiality with sensitive information
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software quickly
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and leadership
