Job Summary

Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Histotechnologist processes all specimens received in the Histology lab with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include tissue processing, slide preparation, staining, labeling, tracking specimens, and maintaining lab policies and equipment. Ensuring quality and compliance are integral parts of the role.

Key Duties

• Handle and prioritize tissue processing
• Operate complex lab machinery and staining systems
• Perform complex staining and immunohistochemistry
• Data entry and specimen tracking in LIS
• Maintain equipment and supplies
• Ensure quality control and safety standards
• Manage specimen storage and archiving
• Adhere to all laboratory procedures and regulations

Required Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of lab procedures and safety practices
• Experience with lab equipment and staining systems
• Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to prioritize and work efficiently under stress

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Histotechnologist Certification required
