Job summary

UC Davis Health is seeking a Histotechnologist for a 20% per diem, on-site role in the Histology Building. The position involves embedding, cutting, staining, and routine maintenance to support pathologist evaluations.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, hospital-based lab experience, and familiarity with H&E and special stains. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in hospital-based Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
• Experience with embedding various tissue types.
• Experience cutting paraffin and fresh tissue blocks with microtome.
• Experience performing routine H&E and various special stains.
• Ability to work with hazardous materials safely.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• 60% - Embedding and Cutting.
• 30% - Staining.
• 5% - Laboratory Maintenance.
• 5% - Other Duties.
