The position requires an associate's degree or NAACLS histotechnician program and HT(ASCP) certification or eligibility within one year. Weekend shifts and onsite work are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in biological, chemical, or related science (with CLIA courses) or NAACLS histotechnician program.
• HT(ASCP) certification or eligibility within 1 year of hire.
• 1 year of experience if holding an Associate's degree; NAACLS program requires no experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists with instruction of Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, and new employees; serves as a technical resource.
• Enters testing information into a computerized database.
• Investigates and resolves problems with equipment, patient results, specimens, and workflow.
• Prepares tissue slides by processing, embedding, sectioning, examining, and staining tissues from surgical pathology, autopsy, hematology, cytology, and research areas.
• Reports results of testing to healthcare providers and consults with them regarding test results.
