Qualifications

• Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification required from ASCP.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in histology or related lab work.
• Related undergraduate study is preferred or required.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred for advancement and scope.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple and complex reagents or media under direct supervision.
• Receive, accession and triage patient specimens, blocks and slides.
• Perform high complexity testing and advanced histopathology procedures and staining techniques.
• Offer expertise in Immunohistochemistry including H&E, special stains, IHC, IF, and CISH.
• Monitor incoming calls and requests and maintain courteous relations with clients.
• Identify and separate specimens for outside laboratories or other USC labs.
• Coordinate research projects, test validation, and clinical test implementation activities.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials per safety protocols.
