Qualifications

• BS in Science or meets CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing.
• ASCP HT/HTL certification active/current.
• Minimum 3-year experience in a high-volume histology laboratory.
• Knowledge of staining techniques and familiarity with reagents.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue specimens for examination by a pathologist.
• Fix, embed, cut skin tissue and apply immunohistochemical stains and other special stains.
• Prepare solutions, maintain equipment and keep detailed records.
• Perform quality control procedures and evaluate results to resolve issues.
• Support JCAHO accreditation activities by updating lab manuals and logs.
• Aide other histotechnicians with questions and daily tasks; potential grossing duties.
