Job summary

PAM Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories LLC, located in Richland, WA, is looking for a Histology Team Lead. The candidate will perform various histology-related tasks, including IHC and special stains, and will ensure the delivery of quality patient care by processing specimens accurately.

Job description

Labcorp is a global leader in diagnostic testing and drug development solutions. PAML, a Labcorp company, is seeking a Histology Team Lead to join our team in Richland, WA.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 pm to 6:30 am. Overtime and rotating weekends may be required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform IHC and special stains within Histology department
  • Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
  • Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
  • Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
  • Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
  • Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
  • Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
  • Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
  • Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
  • Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
  • Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s of Science degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 2 or more years Histology Experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Histology and ASCP certifications
  • 5 or more years Histology Experience
  • 6 months or more Immunohistochemistry experience
Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
  • Comfortable embedding both large and small specimens
  • Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
