Qualifications

• Associates degree in Applied Science or equivalent education and experience per CLIA standards.
• National certification (or eligible) in Histology by ASCP or equivalent.
• Knowledge of histochemistry and tissue processing for microscopic evaluation.
• Analytical ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and QC problems; adapt procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares specimens for microscopic evaluation by processing, embedding, sectioning and staining.
• Identifies and selects techniques for unusual specimens or special staining per instruction.
• Assists in monitoring quality control and ensures slides meet diagnostic standards.
• Operates tissue processor, adjusts protocols for special processing and troubleshoots malfunctions.
• Evaluates impact of tissue processing on samples and implements timely alternatives.
• May participate in evaluating new products and performing related duties.
