Job summary

Wabash General Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technologist–Histotechnologist to perform a broad range of medical laboratory tests and tissue preparation. The role includes phlebotomy, specimen processing, and delivering accurate results to clinicians.

We require MLS certification (ASCP), a BS in Medical Laboratory Science, and at least one year of histology experience, with a rotational shift and on-site work at our Mt. Carmel campus in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or closely related field.
• ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist certification.
• 3 years of hospital lab experience in MLS role.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of complex medical laboratory tests across hematology, immunohematology, immunology, coagulation, bacteriology, microscopy and chemistry.
• Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination; perform fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy and slide preparation.
• Calibrate and maintain instruments; perform quality control and report results to physicians.
• Train and mentor lab staff and students; ensure compliance with CAP/CLIA/HIPAA requirements.
