Responsibilities

• Receives, accessions, organizes, distributes pathology specimens, slides, and blocks both internally and externally.
• Stores and disposes specimens according to regulatory guidelines.
• Assists pathologists and coordinates with other departments and facilities as needed.
• Prepares frozen sections under direct supervision of a histologist or pathologist.
• Handles supplies and reagents in the prescribed manner.
• Organizes and maintains pathology documentation including specimen logs, send-out testing, and legal requests.
• Screen, receive and direct telephone calls.
