Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Lab Prep Assistant Per Diem - Histology to provide clerical and preparatory support in the Histology/Cytology departments across Voorhees and Our Lady of Lourdes Camden. This position requires being available during the week on day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with coverage for full shifts as needed and potential reporting to alternative hospital sites.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalency; hourly pay ranges from $18.69 to $26.01,

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and data entry
• Ability to handle specimens with care and confidentiality
• Clerical and organizational duties in a lab setting

Responsibilities

• Receive and correctly match specimens with requisitions
• Perform computer functions including registration and accessioning accurately
• Specimen handling including numbering of containers and slides, preparation of cassettes
• Process cytology specimens and staining where applicable
• Maintain departmental logs and statistics
• Assist with frozen sections and bone marrow specimens
• Process send-out specimens and other duties as assigned
