Job summary

MercyOne Genesis Davenport is seeking a Lab Assistant I to support multiple laboratory departments by assisting technical staff in processing and reporting tests essential for patient diagnosis and treatment. This entry-level role requires accuracy, adherence to safety standards, and strong computer skills to manage LIS and other systems.

Schedule is full-time, 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts, mainly Monday through Friday with occasional weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Accept specimens and requisitions from internal and external customers and manage add‑on orders.
• Identify patients and specimens with two identifiers and properly label containers.
• Log specimens in LIS and ensure documentation is accurate.
• Process specimens per lab protocols and assist in reporting results.
• Support safe operations and maintain data integrity and quality standards.
