Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; emphasis on science courses preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar capacity and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques preferred.
• General knowledge of MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Records information in laboratory log books and specimen sheets to ensure QA.
• Operates equipment, prints labels, records data, and handles storage and retrieval.
• Prepares reagents for procedures under supervision of a technologist.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper operability of lab equipment.
• Maintains department inventory and orders supplies as needed.
• Resolves pending lists and locates missing samples.
• Performs filing, mailing, and copying tasks as needed.
• Disposes of biohazardous material per Safety Manual.
• Completes training and competency checklists as needed.
• Loads, runs and unloads some automated testing procedures.
• Assists with quality improvement or safety programs.
• Reports problems to supervisor or lead technologist for timely resolution.
