NeoGenomics Laboratories, Inc. seeks a Laboratory Assistant for the Histology department in Fort Myers, FL to support the technologists and learn in a dynamic clinical lab setting. The role is entry level within the clinical laboratory job family and may not manipulate samples.

Shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 2:00pm-10:30pm, subject to change based on business needs. You will record data, prepare reagents, perform basic tasks, keep logs, and help maintain inventory and lab safety under supervision,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; emphasis on science courses preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar capacity and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques preferred.
• General knowledge on using MS Office programs.
• Effective communication skills and strong organization skills.

Responsabilités

• Records required information in laboratory logs and accession sheets.
• Operates basic laboratory equipment and performs clerical duties.
• Prepares reagents under supervision of a technologist.
• Maintains cleanliness of lab and equipment; performs housekeeping tasks.
• Maintains department inventory and orders supplies.
• Resolves pending lists and locates missing samples.
• Performs filing, mailing and copying tasks as needed.
• Disposes of biohazardous material per procedures.
• Completes training and competency checklists as needed.
• Sends/receives cases to/from satellite labs.
• Loads, runs and unloads some automated testing procedures.
• Assists with quality improvement or safety program.
• Reports problems to supervisor or lead technologist for resolution.
