Job summary

PathGroup is seeking an experienced laboratory professional qualified for high complexity testing under CLIA-88 regulations. The role includes accessioning tissue specimens and performing grossing under the guidance of pathologists and pathologist assistants.

The candidate will also prepare tissues for external testing, perform marrow/section procedures where required, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while maintaining accurate records and specimens.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA-88 regulations.
• Minimum of one year of previous health care environment job-related experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Accession all tissue specimens and make cassettes.
• Gross and submit tissues under the direction of the pathologists and pathologist assistants.
• Perform frozen sections (location dependent).
• Hang tissue on the processors.
• Determine/select specimens for grossing.
• Photograph specimens (Polaroid, digital, and 35 mm).
• Prepare tissue for sending out for testing (e.g., Lymphoma Phenotyping, Iron studies).
• Prepare routine solutions and maintain inventory of supplies; keep area clean.
• Dispose of hazardous waste per procedures (xylene, alcohol, formaldehyde).
• Review procedure manuals and stay current with changes.
• Adhere to lab safety and regulatory guidelines to protect PHI and sensitive data.
• Abide by Corporate Compliance Program and Privacy/Security policies.

Education

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology
