Job summary

PathGroup seeks a qualified laboratory professional to perform high-complexity tissue accessioning and gross examination under CLIA-88 standards. The role involves independent work under the Medical Director of Pathology.

Requires adherence to safety, privacy, and compliance procedures. The candidate should have an associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology and documented training; experience in a health care setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA-88 regulations.
• Minimum one year of health care environment job-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Accession and prepare tissue specimens for gross examination.
• Perform gross dissections of high complexity cases and smaller surgical/biopsy cases.
• Perform gross dictations as per department protocol.
• Hang tissue on processors and photograph specimens.
• Prepare tissue for further testing such as phenotyping or iron studies.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and clean work area.
• Follow hazardous waste disposal procedures and lab safety guidelines.
• Adhere to Corporate Compliance, privacy and security policies and procedures.

Education

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology

60 semester hours with specified chemistry/biology coursework and ABHES/CAHEA training
