Job summary

Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. seeks an enthusiastic Research Associate I to join the Molecular Digital Pathology Laboratory (MDPL) within the Cancer Genomics Research Laboratory at the NCI-Shady Grove campus in Rockville, MD.

You will perform histology techniques, digitize slides, and support spatial genomics while ensuring quality control. Collaboration with epidemiologists, biostatisticians and scientists is essential, with documentation in LIMS and Jira and a commitment to safe lab

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biomedical/biochemical field or 4 years equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years histology laboratory experience.
Knowledge of basic histology techniques and QC of slides.
Experience with chromogenic and fluorescent assays on FFPE and frozen tissue.
Proficiency with automated histopathology instrumentation.
Strong attention to detail; able to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Perform embedding, microtomy, cryotomy, H&E and IHC staining and cover slipping.
Digitize H&E and IHC/IF slides using a slide scanner.
Support spatial genomics with Ultivue and Visium HD.
Maintain SOPs and vendor guidelines for instrumentation.
Document experiments in LIMS, Jira and other tracking systems.
Maintain a safe, compliant lab environment and adhere to protocols.
