Job summary

Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC is seeking a Coordinator - Pathology and Histology to lead daily histology operations and support the Pathology and Histology team. You will oversee workflows, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality laboratory services in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

The role requires a Histology Technologist with strong knowledge of CAP/CLIA, EMR systems, and QA/QC, plus a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of histology experience.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be a Histology Technologist.
• Bachelor's Degree preferably in a related biological science (Required).
• 3 years Histology Technologist experience in a clinical lab (Required).
• 5 years Histology/clinical lab experience (Preferred).
• HT certification (Histotechnician) - ASCP upon hire (Preferred).
• Knowledge of lab information systems COPATH and EMR workflows.
• Familiarity with CAP, CLIA/CLIP, JCAHO and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations in patient flow within assigned areas.
• Lead and mentor staff; coordinate staffing schedules and coverage.
• Perform histology procedures including IHC, staining, and QA/QC tasks.
• Maintain instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Promote CAP/OSHA compliance and maintain quality control records.
• Support process improvements and workflow optimization.
