Job summary

MO-SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Histology Aide to support histologists and pathologists in anatomic pathology.

You will help obtain and analyze tissue specimens, perform labeling, processing, and preservation tasks in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to accurate diagnoses. The position emphasizes attention to detail, safety, and collaboration with clinical teams. Work is Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a rotating Saturday schedule, totaling 40 hours

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assists histologists and pathologists by retrieving, labeling, processing and preserving tissue specimens.
• May cut and chemically stain specimens.
• Adheres to specimen collection procedures and specimen requirements and performs quality control.
• Enters orders into computer system.
• Cleans and maintains laboratory supplies and work area.
• Performs calibration and troubleshooting on testing systems and instruments.
• Updates statistical records, labels tubes, and schedules processing runs.
• May perform general clerical duties such as answering the phone, filing, and registering patients.

Education
