Job summary
Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Histologist/Histotechnologist to perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining in a busy laboratory. The role requires strong histology skills, adherence to QA protocols, and maintaining detailed records.
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related discipline with experience in tissue processing, staining, and quality control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related discipline is strongly preferred.
- Experience in histology procedures and lab operations is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Performs the duties of a histotechnologist for a specific area/section of the Laboratory or rotates in all sections/areas as needed.
- Prepares tissue from surgical and autopsy sources by processing in tissue processors; embeds in paraffin; cuts sections by microtome; mounts on slide; stains; dehydrates; clears and coverslips.
- Performs procedures with minimal supervision following procedure manuals.
- Ensures proper functioning, maintenance, and cleanliness of equipment and work area.
- Maintains records, logs, charts, and files.
- Prepares solutions and troubleshoots methods and instruments per procedures.
- Monitors and maintains inventory for daily testing routine.
- Performs quality control using established protocols.
- Attends trainings and meetings; pursues professional development.
