This role supports outpatient scheduling, preregistration, and patient financial interactions in a busy hospital setting. Ideal candidates will have at least one year in customer service or healthcare, and familiarity with medical insurance terminology.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of customer service, general administrative, or healthcare experience.
• Preferred: analyze problems and offer solutions.
• Preferred: call center experience.
• Preferred: effective communication and handling difficult customer situations.
• Preferred: knowledge of medical insurance and terminology.
• Preferred: ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and current CPT coding.

Responsibilities

• Interview and schedule patients for outpatient services and preregistration.
• Coordinate patient schedules to maximize satisfaction for patients and physicians.
• Communicate patient instructions, authorization/pre-certification/referral requirements to patients, physician offices, and SMHCS staff.
• Maintain scheduling and pre-registration accuracy per department standards.
• Create estimates for patient financial responsibility and collect co-insurance, co-pay, and deductible as indicated.
• Initiate process to ensure patients meet hospital financial policies and transfer to appropriate departments for complex situations.

Job Summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a non-profit hospital located in the beautiful city of Sarasota, Florida. We have recently built an additional hospital in Venice, Florida, have added a new Cancer Institute on our Sarasota campus, and are planning a new hospital location in North Port, Florida. Responsibilities

Professionally interviews and schedules patients for outpatient service including preregistration. Coordinates patient schedules to maximize patient and physician satisfaction institution-wide. Communicates patient instructions and directions, physician order requirement, authorization/pre-certification/referral requirement to patients, physician office staff, and other SMHCS personnel. Maintains scheduling and pre-registration accuracy rate per department standards. Creates estimate for patient financial responsibility and collects co-insurance, co-payment, and deductible as indicated. Initiates process to assure the patient meets the hospital financial policies/guidelines for services to be rendered and transfers to appropriate departments for more complex situations.

Required Qualifications

Mandatory Education

Salary Range

$18.35/hr. to $27.30/hr.
