Job summary

Spitzer Industries in Houston, TX is seeking a Material Handler to join our team in a full-time, hourly nonexempt role. You will safely load, unload and move materials, stage items, and tag them for proper inventory control while adhering to HSE standards.

The position requires 2–3+ years of related experience, ability to lift up to 45 pounds, and familiarity with pallet jacks or cranes. We offer a fast-paced environment, overtime opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3+ years of experience in similar or related position.
• Knowledge of Company Procedures and Policies.
• Exposure to shop hazards including welding fumes, heat, noise.
• Physically able to stand, move, and lift up to 45 pounds.
• Experience with material handling equipment (pallet jack, crane).

Responsibilities

• Basic understanding of shop/yard layout and how to stage and locate materials.
• Safely loading, unloading and transfer / movement of material.
• Perform assigned activities according to shop requirements and supervisor directions.
• Ensure the material is properly staged and stored in designated locations.
• Make sure items are properly tagged and labeled.
• Knowledge of how to use and safely operate material handling equipment (pallet jack, crane).
• May operate a forklift to transport stored material into production areas.
• Complies with all health, safety regulations and requirements.
• Follow all health safety procedures outlined by the Company.

General Information

Spitzer, a recognized industry leader in designing and fabricating high-specification equipment, is currently seeking Material Handler to join our team.

What Does a Week in the Life of the Material Handler Look Like?

• oBasic understanding of shop/yard layout and how to stage and locate materials.
• oSafely loading, unloading and transfer / movement of material.
• oPerform assigned activities according to shop requirements, Company procedures and as directed by Supervisor.
• oEnsure the material is properly staged and stored in designated locations.
• oMakes sure that items are properly tagged and labeled.
• oKnowledge of how to use and safely operate material handling equipment, i.e. pallet jack and crane (training required).
• oMay operate a forklift to transport stored material into production areas.
• oComplies with all HSE regulations and requirements.
• oFollow all health safety procedure and regulations as outlined by the Company.
• oOther assigned duties

• o2 to 3+ years of experience in similar or related position.
• oKnowledge of Company Procedures and Policies.
• oExposure to possible shop hazards including but not limited to welding fumes, heat, flash burns, skin burns, high noise level and eye injuries from welding arc and grinders. Spends a large percentage of the time in yard, warehouse, and shop.
• oPhysically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk and climb during the course for the shift.
• oPhysically able to lift up to 45 pounds.

Work Schedule

Spitzer currently runs two shifts, Monday through Friday with overtime on weekend work as needed. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
