Job summary

Excel Supported Living is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in Spokane, WA. The role focuses on rehabilitative support to help individuals learn daily living skills, maintain independence, and improve safety and quality of life.

DSPs provide guided instruction, modeling, prompting, and positive reinforcement tailored to each person’s goals. The position requires 1 year of direct support experience, CPR/First Aid, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• 1 year of direct support or behavioral health experience preferred.
• Nurse Delegation Certified or CPR/First Aid is a plus.
• Active Food Handler Permit and Infection control knowledge are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Follow individualized support plans to promote independence.
• Assist clients with daily living activities (meal prep, hygiene, medication reminders).
• Document progress, challenges, and changes accurately.
• Provide emotional support and companionship, ensuring dignity and safety.

by helping individuals learn, practice, and maintain everyday life skills that promote independence, safety, and quality of life. This support is based on each person’s goals and abilities and is not related to substance-use rehabilitation.In the Direct Support Professional (DSP) role,

rehabilitate

means:

Supporting individuals to regain, learn, or strengthen everyday life skills that may have been lost, delayed, or impacted by disability, injury, or changes in health or environment.

Rehabilitative Support in Daily DSP Care is not drug or substance related.DSPs provide rehabilitative support by

teaching, modeling, prompting, and reinforcing

basic and functional skills, including but not limited to:Personal hygiene and self-care routinesMeal preparation and safe food handlingHousehold tasks (cleaning, laundry, organization)Communication and social interaction skillsMoney handling and basic budgetingCommunity navigation and transportation skillsTime management and daily schedulingHealth and wellness routinesCoping strategies and emotional regulationThe goal is to increase independence, not create dependence.
