Job summary

Safe Harbor Home Care in San Diego, CA is seeking reliable Personal Care Attendants to provide non-medical in-home care and companionship. You will assist clients with daily living activities and maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Qualified candidates must be CA-registered with an active HCA number, meet TB and criminal background requirements, hold a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance if transporting clients, and complete required agency documentation.

Qualifications

• Registration with the state of CA and an active HCA number.
• Current TB certificate.
• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents.
• Completed LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement.
• Completed LIC 501 Personnel Record.
• SOC 341A Acknowledgement of Reporting Abuse.
• Driver's license if transporting clients.
• Vehicle insurance if transporting clients.
• Minimum of five hours of entry-level training before presence with client(s).

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care, including bathing, dressing, exercising, feeding, grooming, transferring, ambulating, toileting, and medication reminders.
• Provide non-medical in-home care and companionship in a caring, respectful manner.
• Support clients in home and community settings per agency policies and state regulations.

Job Description Summary

• Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers provide non-medical service and assistance to a client in their home and communities, who, because of advanced age or physical or mental disability, cannot perform these services. These services enable the client to remain in his or her residence and include, but are not limited to, assistance with the following: bathing, dressing, feeding, exercising, personal hygiene and grooming, transferring, ambulating, positioning, toileting and incontinence care, assisting with medication that the client self-administers, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, laundry, transportation, correspondence, making telephone calls, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.
• Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant Agency policies, industry standards, and state regulations.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Qualifications include:

• Registered with state of CA and active HCA number
• 18 years of age or older;
• Clearance Verified on the Home Care Aide Registry;
• Current Tuberculosis (TB) certificate;
• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents;
• Completed “Criminal Record Statement” (LIC 508);
• Complete “Personnel Record” (LIC 501)
• Complete “Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Suspected Abuse of Dependent Adults and Elders” (SOC 341A)
• Current drivers’ license (if transporting clients or running errands);
• Valid vehicle insurance coverage (if transporting clients or running errands) ;
• Minimum of five (5) hours entry-level training prior to presence with client(s).

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Assist with the activities of daily living and personal care including:
• bathing-shaving-ambulation
• mouth care -dressing-exercising
• hair care-feeding-toileting/incontinence care
• nail care-positioning-medication reminding
• skin care -transferring-meal planning & preparation
