Job summary

Safe Harbor Home Care in San Diego seeks Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers to provide non-medical in-home support to clients, helping with bathing, dressing, meal prep, mobility, and companionship.

You will work in clients' homes, adhering to agency policies and CA state requirements, with options for flexible hours and overtime; local applicants encouraged.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents.
• Clearance on Home Care Aide Registry required during onboarding.
• Current Tuberculosis (TB) certificate required.
• Registered with state of CA and active HCA number.
• Completed “Criminal Record Statement” (LIC 508).
• Minimum of five (5) hours entry-level orientation training prior to presence with client(s).
• Current drivers’ license and vehicle insurance preferred if transporting clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care including bathing, shaving, ambulation, mouth care, dressing, exercising, hair care, feeding, toileting, nail care, and positioning.
• Provide medication reminders and support clients with self-administered medications.
• Assist with meal planning and preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and transportation.
• Ensure care delivery is respectful, safe, and in line with agency policies and state regulations.

Job Description Summary

Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers provide non-medical service and assistance to a client in their home and communities, who, because of advanced age or physical or mental disability, cannot perform these services. These services enable the client to remain in his or her residence and include, but are not limited to, assistance with the following: bathing, dressing, feeding, exercising, personal hygiene and grooming, transferring, ambulating, positioning, toileting and incontinence care, assisting with medication that the client self-administers, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, laundry, transportation, correspondence, making telephone calls, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.

Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant Agency policies, industry standards, and state regulations.

Eligibility Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older
• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents

Able to obtain during onboarding process:

• Clearance Verified on the Home Care Aide Registry
• Current Tuberculosis (TB) certificate
• Registered with state of CA and active HCA number
• Completed “Criminal Record Statement” (LIC 508)
• Complete “Personnel Record” (LIC 501)
• Complete “Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Suspected Abuse of Dependent Adults and Elders” (SOC 341A)
• Minimum of five (5) hours entry-level orientation training prior to presence with client(s)

Preferred

• Current drivers’ license (if transporting clients or running errands)
• Valid vehicle insurance coverage (required if using vehicle during shifts)
