Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) required.
• A minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred.
• Strong computer software experience—general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
• Excellent organizational skills a must.
• Must be able to type 50 wpm.
• Must be able to use fax, copier, scanning machine.
• Willing to learn new equipment and processes quickly.
• Self-motivated, a team player.
• Must have proven customer satisfaction skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Processes release of information requests accurately and efficiently.
• Retrieves and returns patient charts according to requests and procedures.
• Validates releases with appropriate authorizations and HIPAA requirements.
• Performs quality checks for accuracy, confidentiality, and invoicing.
• Maintains clean and organized work area and equipment.
• Provides excellent customer service and clarifies client needs.
