Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville, KY is seeking a HIM Technician to manage preparation, scanning and indexing of patient records into the EMR, preserving the LHR integrity.

You will ensure timely access for authorized users, maintain accurate filing, verify scan quality, and comply with HIPAA/HITECH while collaborating with clinical staff and ROI vendors.

This role emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and coordination across departments to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Pursuit of HIM degree preferred.
• Experience meeting deadlines and handling confidential information (required).
• One year HIM Technician experience preferred.
• Previous hospital HIM or medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, scans, and indexes patient records into the EMR system.
• Ensures accuracy and 95%+ accuracy in data entry.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA and HITECH.
• Coordinates with departments to fulfill records requests.
• Maintains correct filing and rapid access for authorized users.
