The role requires HIM experience in acute care, accurate filing, and knowledge of privacy regulations. You will support HIM Tech I/II and ensure proper documentation and billing practices while safeguarding

Qualifications

Minimum one year HIM experience in acute care setting required.
Minimum six months direct release of information duties required.
Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and/or terminal-digit filing skills.
Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Knowledge of the State and Federal Regulatory requirements for medical staff documentation preferred.
Computer data entry with 10-key preferred, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a medical terminology course preferred.
Training in state Consent Law and HIPAA Privacy/Security highly desired.
Attendance in health information management program with certificate of completion preferred.

Responsibilities

Handle requests for release of patient health information and respond within mandated timeframes.
Maintain knowledge of HIPAA regulations and state Consent/Release of Information laws.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and accurate billing practices.
Assist in backing up HIM Tech I & II and other duties as needed.
