Job summary

Sherman Oaks Hospital, part of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, seeks a HIM Tech III (Release of Information Clerk). You will handle requests for patient health information, ensuring HIPAA compliance and timely responses, while maintaining precise records and supporting HIM colleagues.

Requirements include at least 1 year HIM experience in acute care, 10-key data entry, and a strong knowledge of medical terminology; hospital policy adherence is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year HIM experience in acute care setting required.
• Minimum six months direct release of information duties required.
• Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and/or terminal-digit filing skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of the State and Federal Regulatory requirements for medical staff documentation preferred.
• Computer data entry with 10-key preferred, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm preferred.
• Attendance/participation in health information management program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle release of information requests within mandated timeframes.
• Maintain knowledge of HIPAA regulations, state laws, and hospital policies.
• Ensure all release of information activities comply with regulatory guidelines.
• Complete duties following HIPAA guidelines for minimum necessary information.
• Assist in backing up HIM Tech I and II and other assigned duties.
