Job summary

United Digestive is seeking a diligent HIM Representative to manage patient medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance in a busy gastroenterology clinic. Qualifications

Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for all duties revolving around the management of patient Medical Records.REPORTS TO: HIM SupervisorRESPONSIBILIITESDuties include but are not limited to:Accurately files dictations, lab results, endoscopy/hospital reports, all faxes and any other patient related correspondence from Document Import in a timely manner; ensuring document names and dates are updated.Files scanned patient records received from Iron Mountain Image on DemandFaxes Office Visit Notes to referring providers as directed by the HIM SupervisorTasks filed items as appropriateEnsures all documents received before 3:00 pm are filed the same day and tasked appropriatelyPrints, mails and/or faxes approved record requests to patients or other medical facilitiesEnsures that attorney records requests received are appropriately directed to the HIM SupervisorWorks with HIM Supervisor and Office Manager(s) to coordinate off-site record storage and retrievalAnswers emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient mannerEnsures tasks are completed dailyCompletes requests for information from other United Digestive staff and ensures that they are handled promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accountsAbides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strict confidentiality with regards to patient informationMeets or exceeds quality and productivity standards as set by the HIM Supervisor and Director of Clinic OperationsParticipates in staff meetings as directed by the HIM SupervisorParticipates in marketing activities as directed by the HIM SupervisorCross trains and performs other office functions as directed by the HIM SupervisorAny other duties and/or special projects as assignedREQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or GED, 2-3 years of specialty clinical experience, gastroenterology experience preferred.
