Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Project Coordinator in Health Information Management to ensure medical record accuracy across the health system. The role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain data integrity, including the master patient index and duplicate linkage resolution.

The position requires onsite work in Hyde Park with a probationary period, then hybrid work with two days on-site and three remote.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in health information management or health care administration.
• 5-8 years of experience in an acute care teaching hospital health information management department.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analytic and critical thinking skills for data correction.
• Excellent prioritization and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide data integrity services for the health system with detailed error reports.
• Maintain master and enterprise patient index and resolve duplicates.
• Perform quality reviews and audits of medical record timeliness and accuracy.
• Monitor and report incomplete medical record information to providers and leaders.
• Participate in corrections of large-scale system errors due to conversions and integrations.
• Maintain knowledge of HIPAA, Joint Commission Standards and relevant laws.
