Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor to lead the HIM Department's daily operations. You will oversee document imaging, indexing, and EHR readiness to support safe patient care and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor staff, ensure quality, and collaborate with Clinical, Revenue Cycle, IT, and other teams to optimize workflows and improve performance. Bachelor-level healthcare information management experience is expected, with RHIA/RHIT/CEHRS

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Health Information Management.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Experience using Epic.
Experience with document imaging and indexing software.

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise the daily operations of the HIM Department.
Plan, assign, and prioritize departmental workload to meet turnaround times.
Monitor productivity, staffing levels, and workflow for operational efficiency.
Recruit, interview, onboard, train, coach, and mentor departmental employees.
Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual goals.
Establish and monitor quality standards for scanning and indexing accuracy.
Collaborate with Epic analysts and IT on workflows and system enhancements.
Ensure accurate scanning, indexing and validation of patient documentation in the EHR.
Ensure departmental compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, CMS regulations.
