Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer with deep expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing to bridge software simulations and physical hardware in our datacenter validation programs.

You will own end-to-end HIL validation, design test architectures, build rigs, and run closed-loop tests to prevent field failures, accelerate FOAK deployment, and scale validation frameworks across global datacenter programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Industrial Automation.
• 6+ years in systems integration, HIL testing, or systems validation.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating HIL test rigs, real-time simulation.
• Ability to interface with PLCs, BMS controllers, firmware, and SCADA in a closed-loop test.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for deployment recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build HIL test environments that replicate datacenter loading scenarios.
• Own the integration layer between hardware and software simulations ensuring bidirectional signal fidelity.
• Develop and execute integration test plans covering functional verification and stress testing.
• Define and maintain DVPs and acceptance criteria for integrated system behavior.
• Automate HIL test workflows using Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent tools.
• Lead RCA on integration failures by reproducing failure modes in HIL environments.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and electrical engineers to align on requirements.
• Build and maintain simulation-hardware co-validation frameworks for new tech adoption.
• Develop institutional HIL standards scalable across datacenter programs and generations.
• Support commissioning and operational readiness with field deployment guidance.
