By joining Permit team part of the Engineering Support branch as a Transportation Engineering Technologist IIin Warren County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allowfor continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance and operations.

Summary of responsibilities:

• Hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operating dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers
• Learn and assist with basic surveying activities on construction projects
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

• Experience working on rough terrain and in all weather conditions
• Experience with general labor or trades
• Experience in equipment operation for road maintenance

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
