Job summary

The State of Ohio, Transportation District 11, seeks a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Columbiana County, based in Lisbon. The role focuses on keeping Ohio roads safe through maintenance, flagging, patching, and snow operations.

Full-time union OCSEA; starting pay $21.48–$22.29 per hour. Selected candidate will train for CDL, undergo background checks, and enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including health, pension, leave, and tuition

Qualifications

• Formal arithmetic education including addition/subtraction and basic English reading/writing/speaking.
• HMW1: Class B CDL with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
• HT1: 3 months training or 3 months experience operating basic equipment; Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and help make the roads in Ohio safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already licensed.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks: flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• Carry out snow and ice operations.
