Job summary

You will work on capital projects, traffic and intersection design, and multi-disciplinary teams, delivering practical, innovative solutions for public transportation and roadway improvements. The role also offers mentorship and exposure to PennDOT projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• EIT/FE certification is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of CAD software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, or OpenRoad).
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in outside contact and communication for specific projects.
• Develop cost estimates, feasibility studies, and recommendations for capital improvements.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on intersection design, traffic signals, roadway signing, and pavement markings; analyze traffic operations.
• Assist in preparing or modifying reports, specifications, plans, schedules, permits, and designs.
• Review construction site progress and enforce contract documents.
• Serve as on-site project representative.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting in outside contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
• Capital improvement planning including providing cost estimates, feasibility studies, and developing recommendations and innovative solutions.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic and signal operations analysis.
• Obtaining, analyzing, PennDOT’s Highway Occupancy Permit Design Criteria/procedure
• Assisting in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
• Reviewing construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
• Serving as on-site project representative.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
• EIT, FE, (not required, but preferred)
• Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation or AutoCAD or OpenRoad)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid Driver’s License
