Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op – Highway/Roadway Engineering to join its Austin team for Summer 2027. You will assist with the design of highways, freeways and local roads, participate in permitting, and gain hands-on experience across transportation projects.

You will use AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software, collaborate with engineers and planners, and develop practical skills in traffic analysis, drainage, and project documentation while enjoying a supportive, inclusive workplace and

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering/Transportation Planning.
• GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Familiarity with Guidesign and AutoTURN is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or SoftDesk civil software is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Travel may be required based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Geometric designs of highways, freeways and local roads using national and local codes.
• Concept layout and preliminary design of roads.
• Preparation of Traffic Signalization drawings and plans.
• Design of roadway drainage networks and stormwater plans.
• Construction specifications review and estimating of costs and quantities.
• Preparation of Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans (MPT).
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D, Guidesign, AutoTURN to prepare documents.
• Complete ADA inspections of constructed facilities.
• Perform other duties as requested.
